Our Service

taca-clann-1

The Daughters of Charity Community Services is a member of the Taca Clann Management Committee, which is a grouping of local development agencies, local government, area networks and community representatives.

The Daughters of Charity Community Services is the Management Agency for the Taca Clann project which also comprises representatives from the target flat complexes, the North Inner City Drugs Task Force, the North West Inner City RAPID Programme and the two Area Networks (ICON and NWICN).

Our project was established in 2001 (initially as the Good Neighbours Close to Town Action Group) to address issues associated with poverty and social exclusion in the Dominick Street/Dorset Street catchments area of the central inner city.

As a project, we are committed to addressing social exclusion and disadvantage by employing a community development approach. In 2007, the group oversaw a major community-based research into the needs of the local populations in the 10 flat complexes of this catchments area, from which emerged the vital need for a Family Resource Centre to serve the needs of the population.

Although we have not yet secured funding to establish the centre, we are committed to continuing to do so.  Notwithstanding we have improved, through co-operating with a number of organisations and agencies, the quality of life of our communities.
